It was January 14, 2017, when I discovered a new version of “The Handmaid’s Tale” was scheduled to air this year. Since I was still weeks away from finishing the first draft of my new novella, “An Election Carol,” I hated that I couldn’t drop everything and fire off a fictional response-volley towards Margaret Atwood’s 1986 novel.
UNLESS the new trailers are depicting a satire, it will certainly demand a response…
Atwood’s entire premise was delusional in 1986’s America, but today? Even more so. Think back to the mid-1980’s: America’s most well-known Christian organization, The Moral Majority, never had all that much political pull, despite all the hullabaloo. Even Wikipedia reveals it was kaput by the late-80’s. And as for the 2016 election and the feared Fourth-Reich with Trump-hitler at the helm? We can all see the neo- “con” that’s turning out to be…
“The Handmaid’s Tale,” was a first for me – I call it Christian-Theocracy-Porn (the film version of “V-for-Vendetta,” fits the genre, also). I expect this 2017 version to get fairly graphic; it will be easy to incorporate a number of the handmaidens’ bedroom scenes, and it makes perfect Hollywood-sense to do so. “50 Shades…” has shown there’s a big appetite among the Western world’s women for coercive sex. The Hulu trailers on YouTube have already provided a couple of quote-gems:
- “Ofglen” actress, Alexis Biedel: “She’s not afraid. She’s not as terrified as maybe she should be…” [Right. Only thing is, all young women of-a-certain-age in the West ought to be afraid. Not of Christians, but of the powers that be, who are facilitating a Muslim-invasion of their countries, at this very moment!]
- The protagonist-Handmaid: “I had another name, but it’s forbidden now…so many things are forbidden now…My name is Offred and I intend to survive.” [Hey, Hulu, too bad you’re part of the problem. If only more German and Swedish and British and American young women were recognizing this now…in time to prevent the loss of our civil-societies to Islamic supremacists. But, na-a-ah. Fear monger about Christians.]
With my novella’s final edits getting accepted today, I’m free to man the battle-stations and pull out my reviewer’s notebook for the Hulu “porno” premiere tonight. I just can’t wait to see how bravely they step out and how boldly they step into the Handmaiden-shoes Hollywood has let collect dust for nearly 30 years.
BUT, BUT, BUT…How will the writers and producers dare take New Testament Bible Scriptures in vain? Don’t they fear sleeper-cells of mad-Christian-men? Are they prepared to fight off Chalie Hebdo style anti-free-speech fanatics, like in Paris? And just how far over backwards will the “creatives” at Hulu have to bend, all to avoid creating any resemblance to the actual world of “disturbed” Islamics we live in…and where we get run over…and sliced-up, and blown-up, and every-which-way-murdered?
We non-Muslims, we so-called infidels, have suffered more than 30,000 attacks by “misunderstanders of Islam” since September 11, 2001. Just how far into the sand will “The Handmaid’s Tale” stick its pretty little head in order to avoid all of that truth?
I guess we’ll see.
I made this last Thursday evening, from an old CafePress graphic of mine, to “decorate” the latest (at that hour) from the R.O.P. (R), and forgot to post it here. Silly me, thinking I wouldn’t have another opportunity shortly.
Posted today, on the occasion of the latest news from the, “But ALL religions commit #Terrorism” desk.
Teespring keeps “flagging” (i.e. pulling down my designs) due to phoney “content infringement” claims, so I’m taking a break from them and just posting designs here.
Find mugs and tee-shirts for CHEAP at Teespring, HERE.
Find lots of info at the Gates of Vienna here (which was the inspiration for the first design I made of “Widerstand” plus the German-Resistance flag motif, back in October 2015). I like this second one even more.
Here’s some background from Wikipedia on those 1940’s anti-NAZI flags which forms the center of this design.
As a supporter, now a recent viewer of the film, I similarly presumed going on Jaye’s documentary-adventure, “The Red Pill,” would hold no big surprises for me. Famous last words…but why so cocky, you ask?
I was Red-Pilled Long Ago…Who Would’ve Thought I Had So Much to Learn
I’ve been aware of the Men’s Rights Movement (via avoiceformen.com) since late 2011 – participating actively there for several years: commenting often and writing a few pieces that Paul Elam published on the site. My most cherished memories of “those days” are the many amazing people and speakers I met (see photos in collage, above) at AVFM’s first International Conference on Men’s Issues in 2014, which had to be moved from downtown Detroit to a nearby suburb, “thanks” to credible threats of terrorism…from Feminists.
(A portion of the footage Jaye uses in the film even came from that conference, including some of a Warren Farrell speech, the by-the-lake Honey Badger interviews, and a panel featuring anti-paternity-fraud champion Carnell Smith (paternityfraud.com/linkspage.html).)
To Boldly Go Where No Feminist Typically Dares to Go…Unless It’s To Disrupt
Cassie Jaye is a young women who boldly went where most of her Feminist sisters will never go…to their ideological opposition. Even more radical, was how she went: NOT screaming, NOT blockading, and NOT making threats of violence, but rather, with a willingness to listen. To learn. And to reconsider, even jettison, intellectual inconsistencies, without regard for the personal paradigm-shifts such honesty can bring.
We viewers get to witness the earliest part of this “shift,” I believe, in one of her video-diary segments (1:20:00). I got emotional right along with her. It’s not often an individual can feel the philosophical pillars of their world trembling beneath their feet and yet resist running from the room, even the building, screaming in protest. For her to stay and ride it out come what may? Courageous. Bravo.
I had to get out a notebook as I watched and listened, just like I had at that 2014 conference. I’m betting you will, too. The following people, moments, and insights were the ones that stood out most for me. I’d love to know your unique take-away or perhaps your gut reaction to this grand filmmaking effort.
Feminism Only Exists in The West Because of CHIVALRY – I Never Realized That Before
Fred Hayward* was a new MRA to me, though he has been in the fight for many years. He made a bold yet spot-on observation (00:17:00) about one of Big-Feminism’s stock-in-trade claims. Oh, how they love to spout off about how “Male-WORK is valued above women’s,” and now with the creation of their so-called Pay-Gap, they have finally found a concrete embodiment of a fundamental bio/behavioral difference between the sexes. Which was the only way to intrigue and then mobilize the mob, i.e. to bring the cerebral “fight” down to the physical street level.
As Cassie Jaye and Hayward discuss the matter, she masterfully illustrates in the film, the difference in Value isn’t because women are worth-less. Feminists conveniently FAIL to notice the unseen benefits the “Systemic Chivalry” (my term) has always afforded women. It has always protected them from literally dangerous jobs, from highly probable dangers, and even from possible dangers (0:16:30+).
In short, “Women’s LIVES are more valued than men’s.”
Proving It By-the-Numbers (Again Surprising Me)
I didn’t realize that even in today’s Strong-Independent-Don’t-Need-No-Man mantra-soaked era, Chivalry was still systemic. As Sully Sullenberger made his amazing January 2009 Hudson River landing (00:18:00), the invisible chivalrous Patriarchy was rearing its ugly head. That freezing cold New York afternoon, the Patriarchy decided whose SAFETY was paramount. Did it pick the rich or First-Class passengers? Or a survival-of-the-fittest line? Or a randomly-formed one? Nope. Nope. Nope.
It chose “women and children” to be rescued first! Just as Hayward had said. The good, hardworking, and honorable women, and any who may have been deceitful, treacherous, or violently bad muthas (and all flavors in between). ALL of the ones with the genital-V had the red-blood-soaked cape of Female Privilege laid across that particular day’s “mud puddle,” granting them a speedier less harrowing – safer – exit.
Another related personal surprise I got from watching “The Red Pill” came moments earlier (00:17:30+). You’ve heard the barrage of media chatter proclaiming Equality, Equality, my kingdom for Women’s Equality and how it needs, oh, golly, it needs to apply to the Military or, or, we’ll all just die…meaning it’s a woman’s right to be a front-line (even Elite unit) warrior. Jaye, however, animates Hayward’s point – that Women’s Lives Are More Precious – via a dramatic tallying-up of War-Death stats. Over 98% of them have been and are still American MEN. The fighting, bleeding, and dying in all the war zones shown – from Korea up to today – is, has, and likely always WILL BE done by men.
Hillary Clinton: Chivalrous? I Think So
The pièce de résistance of the current purposeful undermining of the American military (and proving the perpetual Equal-Rights sans Equal-Responsibility Hypocrisy of feminists and most of their LEFTIST cheerleaders), comes at (1:43:30), just ten minutes before the end of the film. Listen carefully to that February 2016 clip of an Anderson Cooper town hall; it only lasts a few moments. In it, Cassie Jaye allows the wannabe Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, candidate-Hillary Clinton, to hoist herself on her own Patriarchy-Bad…But-But-Chivalry petard.
Not many viewers, red-pilled by the content so far, are likely to be surprised as über-feminist Clinton does what politicians often do best: she dodges a golden-bullet of an opportunity to display her Women’s Equality chops. But proud Grandma Clinton just CAN’T bring herself to answer Cooper in the affirmative, to support women (to include her precious grand-daughter!) being required by Law to REGISTER for the draft. (Note: she then pivots to something “universal” and a hell of a lot less dangerous to women…voter-registration.
How’s that for a woman claiming to have spent an entire career fighting for women’s & girls,’ privileges, er, rights?
Beware of Playing with Leftists: Just When You Think You Know Where the Goalposts Are They Will Move Them
Other than the filmmaker’s personal video-diary “entries,” it’s impossible to know how much of the other information is presented in chronological order. I sincerely wish I knew. Her interview with Erin Pizzey (1:16:00+), a true champion and iconic figure in the pioneering of domestic violence shelters, reveals how a key Feminist Change of Course occurred back around 1970. Pizzey says the ideology needed a new “cause” to keep themselves in the media spotlight (and more importantly, to keep the government-subsidies rolling in). So it was at this point the female Marxists among them dropped the “Capitalism” ball (thereby kicking the goal of Socialism/Communism to the side), while they picked up the nuclear-family-annihilating Patriarchy “ball.”
From 1970 forward, All-Men became the Enemy of All-Women (whether the women recognized it or not). Oh, and the sweet, sweet Goalposts in The War of the Sexes, now, could waft here and there and back again, in an ever amorphous fog called quote-unquote Equality…of everything, everywhere, from now on, and for all time, until…when, exactly?
Until that glorious day (in the less foggy Future) when Feminists pronounce from the mountain top: We’re finally happy because everything is now Equal “enough.” Or not.
We’ve Only Just Begun…The War Between the Sexes or 100-Years War II?
“Angel of light,” Katherine Spillar, executive editor at Ms. Magazine, all grins at one point, shares the depressing news with Jaye (0:38:00+), that those evil MRA’s are full of hot air: “We (women) are just BEGINNING to get an even playing-field here; it’s NOT tilted-in-our-favor, and they (those pesky MRA’s) know it…” Translation: MRA’s claims of bias, hostility, reverse discrimination, in short a growing systemic inequality towards Men, are all lies.
So, don’t stop protesting, or burning your bras, yet girls. Or crafting 3-D fabric vajay-jays to wear to those spontaneous marches (for example, A Day Without a Woman, March 8, 2017).
I have to wonder if Cassie had video (and cut it out) where she asks Ms. Spillar: “Um, ma’am, since this scam, I mean, fight, is running so long into overtime, shouldn’t we maybe stop aborting all our kids so they can keep it up after we’re dead and gone?”
The Ultimate Hypocrisy: Women As Victim is the Opposite of Empowerment (Duh)
21st century feminists are as dependent on Chivalry as any Medieval maiden. The difference? Women today shout all day long they’re Strong and Independent, while their actions – and the media’s covering fire – continually proclaim them as Victims. Sometimes it’s so subtle, the Blue Pilled will never notice. When it’s literal (“partner violence” or “parent-child” violence), and the companion stats prove women are nearly as violent towards their male partners or children, well, that information is swept under the rug. (Not literally of course, feminists don’t “do” floors.)
A more powerful illustration of the MSM’s use of cover language to gain empathy and action for females, while ignoring the plight of men and boys, would be hard to find than the news stories the film covers from Africa (1:29:00+). The sequence of headline after headline covering Boko Haram’s Islamic massacres of mostly boys and men is contrasted with their kidnapping of young women and girls. Who received the greater coverage and who actually suffered the greater harm (death)?
Speaking of Bogeymen
Karen Straughan (1:39:35+) a.k.a. Girl Writes What, is a well known and well-respected MRA. In her short appearance she succeeds brilliantly at the impossible. She manages to get her hands around the throat, capturing the essence of that Patriarchal fog monster created nearly a half-century ago by Big-Feminism. To paraphrase her religious analogy: “Patriarchy” is Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Invisible, and Bad. Really Bad. To her, it sounds like Patriarchy is identical to The Devil! Meanwhile, up on Earth…Feminism is, she says, that beautiful, harmless, and put-upon Force-for-Justice, presumably I’d suggest, on a white horse and holding aloft a gleaming set of government-certified scales. She-Whom-We-All-Have-Been-Waiting-For (…And-Must-Obey).
Straughan then shines her laser light closer in on the evil hypocrisy of feminists, excoriating them for feigning innocence when they claim they’re, “…not blaming Men…we’re just naming everything-bad after Men.” (Here is her must-see talk from the ICMI 2014 conference. Here’s her YouTube Channel.)
Better Life-Lessons Than Those From “Hollywood”
Most of us have binge-watched something. And it was likely a pretty un-enriching experience. Sure, the famous Life-lesson, “Just be faster than one other person,” that we got from that “Walking Dead” all-nighter is pretty funny…but now you’ve snapped out of the TV trance, it’s of course completely useless. Points made in “The Red Pill’s” mere two-hours, on the other hand, will be worth the time invested in a real-world practical way. Even if you’re not naturally inclined to grab a notebook and scribble madly during documentaries!
Based upon my experience, both in the world of the MRM and in watching this film about it, I can guarantee 100% that you will learn something unique and valuable. And because I believe this so strongly, I’m very confident that if you watch it with an open mind (and heart) – intuitively grasping the significance – you will become a better person for having done so.
I hope you will take the transformative Red-Pill journey made possible by this amazing young filmmaker, and then pass it on to others.
* Note: I was unable to find a website for Fred Hayward’s organization, “Men’s Rights, Inc.,” but this is an excellent, albeit old, article from October 2000: http://www.salon.com/2000/10/19/mens_choice/
Couldn’t find my old paperback to photograph and couldn’t spare the time to search for it. (It’s a terrific book, BTW.)
